Joint solution from Morpho and TazTag enables new contactless services

Morpho, (Safran group) one of the world’s leading suppliers of identification, detection and e-document solutions, and TazTag, an innovative company specialized in contactless technology, have combined their know-how to present a solution that provides the infrastructure for new contactless services and Near Field Communication applications for home and office.

According to the latest Eurosmart analyses, Near Field Communication will be the emerging technology in 2011. Morpho and TazTag are presenting a joint solution to make this trend a reality. The TazBox acts as a hotspot with a 3G/WiFi/Ethernet/Zigbee gateway and comes with a software development kit for retail market and residential uses. The TazBox provides a link between users and service providers. To enable any existing or future mobile phones to communicate with the box, Morpho provides a set of NFC-enabled devices, such as an SWP SIM card or an active contactless sticker that adds NFC capability to the phone.

At the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Morpho and TazTag will demonstrate a home use case. Using the Morpho NFC-enabled SIM card, healthcare professionals or homecare service providers can easily authenticate themselves in NFC mode and interact with a back office to submit or collect information through the available network that is provided by the native gateway of the TazBox, using either 3G, WiFi, Ethernet, or Zigbee.

The combined solution has numerous benefits. For instance, the patient or customer can be shown a picture of the next service provider prior to his or her arrival, thus creating a feeling ofconfidence before the door is opened. On the service side, the times can be registered when the service provider arrives and leaves; these times can then be sent instantly to the back end. The solution allows various service providers to share information on the spot.
