We’ve just learnt that music fans will be able to reward a London busker by credit card, rather than throwing cash into a hat in a drive to promote “contactless” technology and raise money for charity.
Peter Buffery, a student at Kingston University, south-west London, will use a specially-designed guitar for passers-by on London’s South Bank to make donations to Help a London Child using Barclaycard.
The contactless cards allow customers to make purchases of £15 or less without having to use a payment terminal.
If anyone is around the South Bank and sees Peter Buffery, photographs would be very welcome and we would post them here and on C-ITV. So keep an eye out! (and your contactless credit card handy)…
Update: we received a picture courtesy of a well-know red top paper photographer – many thanks.
